  1. Aren't they pretty? Love the rack on the big boy.

    1. Thanks Sandie. These two boys were literally right outside our window one morning while at Sampson State Park. Earlier in life I might have thought the big boy looked tasty. Now-a-days I prefer to do my shooting with a camera.

  2. And looking right at you. I wonder what they are thinking?

    1. Hi Donna. As is often the case with deer, they were extremely curious. I had the feeling they were not expecting to see us in their home area. While volunteering at Sampson, the volunteer camping location is a good distance away from the normal campground and it is very quiet.

  3. With only a front view, how do you know they are both boys? Were those little nubs on the left deer?

  4. Hi Judy. Often this time of the year the young boys will start running with the older guys. One of the reasons they do this is because the young males will have become a nuisance (being a boy) to their mothers and the rest of the females in the herd. With the onset of their immature behavior, the mother will drive their male adolescent offspring away. I also happen to like this title so I needed both of them to be boys.

    1. Good morning Karen. These boys really did pose in a way, they were very curious and I must admit, very patient with the photographer!

  6. Did I ever tell you about the deer I was able to get up close to at an RV park in New Mexico? He stood perfectly still as I crept closer and closer until I realized he was a decoy. Then I did an little mad dance!

  7. Jerry your story is way better than my photo! I must admit to truly "laughing out loud" this morning when I read this. Hopefully you did get a great picture of him though.

  8. I was just out in the yard shooting a doe and her two spotted fawns. What a treat huh?
