Hi Donna. As is often the case, I was there at the right time with a camera in hand. The chick was somewhat shy, as I watched them, it would often hover around the bushes, just a bit out of sight.
Simply awesome!!! Mama and baby what a picture. I learned something did not know they were called Colts. Hmmm that is different. What happened to chick?
Hi Tammy. Like you, I had no idea about "colts" either. From my reading, calling them chicks and/or colts seems to be appropriate. Maybe when they are just hatching, calling them "chicks" would be more correct.
What a fantastic picture !
ReplyDeleteThank you Susan! Seeing what I presume to be mom and chick was a real treat.
DeleteBeautiful John!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lynda, so nice hearing from you again!
DeleteWow, that's a picture you won't get very often. Great capture. Looks like they posed for you!!

DeleteHe's sooo cute. Didn't know they were called colts.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandie. I didn't know they were called colts either. From what I can find out, they are called both, chick and/or colt.
DeleteAh so pretty in the spotlight.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen. The cranes are very pretty and I think "majestic". I was fortunate to catch them as the sun was setting.
