Seneca Lake, Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York, Sampson Naval Training Station, Sampson Air Force Base, World War II, Korean War, Sampson State Park
A very simple yet impressive memorial. I'd like to know where that road in the background goes! Your photo instantly reminded me of one we took several years ago last century. It was Memorial Day. We passed by a cemetery in a small California town, zoomed off the freeway and circled back. There must have been 200 American flags flying. Now if I could only find that picture and convert it to digital!

ReplyDeleteSimple and beautiful. If I stare long enough at the flags I can see them blowing in the breeze.
ReplyDeleteI always try to stop at veteran's memorials. They bring back wonderful memories of my Dad who served in WWII.
ReplyDeleteThe clouds behind the flags add a somber note to this scene. This is a great photo.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same as George. The cloudy sky adds just the right note of solemnity to the photo.
